Well said David and you raise a crucial issue - free trade works ina free market but there are no free markets, not here or anywhere else.

So until the rest embrace them, your conclusion above is logical.

Don't know about the law degree though - buit then I suppose you are being mischievious, as the young always are.

So which article of the US constitution makes it illegal to be gay? Which section makes it illegal to smoke pot?

Come to think of it, the US constitution gave the federal government neither responsibility for, nor power over social and religious matters. Marriage is not a federal government matter, nor the regulation of food, drugs, or health.

Maybe the Constitution Party should read it, or just rename themselves to the Hypocrisy Party which would at least be truth in advertising (something none of the other parties offer).

hey david!

your cousin from brisbane again.

Have read up a lot of the constitution party a lot in the past few months and also can't help thinking that they are the true continuation of Reagan's republican party. Regarding social issues (ie abortion, gay marriage, etc) even the GOP has gone too far... That nothing has been done about America's disgusting abortion laws where women have the "right" to whore themselves around and kill an innocent child on demand is very poor coming from the GOP...

and considering that the majority of Americans do not support abortion being legal. The GOP has also failed to uphold other traditional family values such as inserting an amendment into the constitution protecting traditional (ie normal) marriage from the demands of the radical socialist left (mad militant feminists). With the new laws regarding gay "marriage" in the Northeastern states it's only a matter of time before the USA becomes a socialst wasteland of no morals or values like the Netherlands, where marijuana, fag "marriage", euthenasia, and a whole lot of other disgusting things have been legalised...

To Anonymous: here are some short answers to your earlier questions.

1. No road rage sadly. The Americans are actually really nice and courteous drivers. We've only been honked once for accidentally driving on the wrong side of the road

2. We have only driven through the south and south west which haven't been as affected by the downturn. For example, unemployment in Texas is 7% (still high but well below the national average). However, the rust belt is suffering immensely because it has lost all its manufacturing jobs to China because of suicidal trade policy. So, I guess there are two America's at the moment. One is weathering the storm, whilst the other is in terminal decline. I will try to report more on this in future updates.

3. And yes, everything is bigger in America! From the people to the roads, flags and churches: everything is bigger here.

David ... don't fall for the charm of the South. I worked in America ans went South twice for extended trips. The South wasn't right ... it was a reactionary slave owning semi theocracy. Not a good set of ideas for anyone.

Those Confederate flag wavers down South are just saving some pride. Deep down they know they were wrong.

In time to come, so too will the climate change believers be waving their ragged old flags.
They will sing as one. "We were right to be wrong." - an old tune of moral vanity.

David,

You are right on the money on noting that the ship ALP has merely changed captain, but continue to steam towards its Ruddian goal.
