Gary Scarrabelotti is a journalist, editor and Managing Director of the Canberra-based consultancy Aequum: Political & Business Strategies..
A former political staffer to Senator Brian Harradine, he has spent much of his time since 1995 advising companies and federal governments about the merits and methodologies of large-scale employee share ownership.
Prompted by the heroic example of our late great friend and colleague, Mike Davis (aka Sir Wellington Boote), Gary recently decided to dust of his writing implements and “go public” in defence of Australia, of good government and of the civil society.
Being Russian and absolutely ignorant of the economic and political situation somewhere in Australia, having never heard before about such a dangerous guy as Mr. Abbott and his tricks, I still keep admiring Mr.Scarrabelotti's way of thinking and style of writing along with his stylistics and a brilliant sense of humor.
Gary, you were born to be a writer!
Katya.
So, after reading your article I am left to wonder what you would propose to do?
Are you proposing capital controls to limit the flows of money into Australia and into the mining sector?
Thus keeping the Australian Dollar down and allowing manufacturing to compete fairly in Australia?

Or, are you proposing that we should have some kind of MINING TAX.
That would allow tax rates for other businesses, small businesses to be cut to a lower level and leave other companies better able to compete against international competitors?
Yes, Australia has been paying as little as possible on its 'insurance premium' with the US. We paid a very large premium during WW1, the British couldn't/wouldn't honour the policy in 1942.
Would the US be any more reliable?
Re the Sukhoi,if we bought Russian equipment, what would the American attitude be?
Or the attitudes of the 'Sir Humphreys' in the Defence Dept.
