Who are you?

Henry Thornton is the nom-de-plume of an eminent independent economist. Other contributors are all independent thinkers with a business or economics background. See "Contributors" pages for more information.  

Why are you doing this?

It started as a bit of fun but now-days we have regular readers, even subscribers, and there is an increasing market demand for independent views. Heaven forbid that we should even cover our costs but we are open to the possibility of working for profit. Try one of our contributors if you have an interesting job that requires a fresh approach.  

Can I contribute? Or be heard?

Goldmembers can vote on articles or post comments - please remember to login first (top RHS of home page) - username is usually e-mail address and there is a forgotten password option in case of need.  

Can the material be used by others?

Yes is the general answer. But please note that the material is copyright and that we require as a minimum users to seek our permission and to provide attribution. If substantial use is made of any material we may require a fee to be paid.  

Can the material be relied upon?

This is a site for consenting adults. Every effort is made to be accurate as to facts and sensible about opinions, but users must make their own judgments about any matter covered. Please see "Disclaimer" page for a more complete discussion of this issue.

What are the benefits of becoming a Goldmember?

Goldmember benefits include a free movie pass for two people or T-shirt (this will vary from time to time), a card, access to Henry's "Investment" section and extensive archive, regular e-mails or economic alerts on interesting topics plus the opportunity to comment on articles or express an opinion on their quality.

Henry Thornton will do everything in his power to provide to Goldmembers these benefits  or others that may be offered from time to time.

What are the responsibilities of Goldmembers?

Goldmembers are not to post material that is dishonest, misleading, libelous or discourteous.  They should contribute in a positive, generous spirit or not at all.

It will help the development of the site if Goldmembers spread the news about the development of the site and encourage others to become Goldmembers.

What is the policy for refunds?

Refunds will not normally be offered as the administrative costs are too high for this to be economically sensible.

If the Henry Thornton site closes for any reason, Henry Thornton will do everything in his power to return that proportion of the Goldmember subscription that is unexpired - ie in proportion to unexpired part of the year covered by the annual subscription.
