‘Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre’

Director: Guy Ritchie

I love caper movies directed by Guy Ritchie (Madonna’s ‘x’). Although formulaic, you know they will entertain, and be as glamorous and exciting as any James Bond or Jack Reacher film.

I love Jason Stratham who plays a super suave, he-man in many of Ritchie’s movies (Stratham is a bit like a modern day Sean Connery but with a much drier persona, though that tongue is still firmly planted in his cheek).

And … I love a movie that casts Hugh Grant as a bad guy sleezeball and not a romantic lead. Grant makes a great villain!

Super spy Orson Fortune (Jason Statham) must track down and stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology wielded by billionaire arms broker Greg Simmonds (Hugh Grant). Reluctantly teamed with some of the world's best operatives (Aubrey Plaza, Cary Elwes, Bugzy Malone), Fortune and his crew recruit Hollywood's biggest movie star Danny Francesco (Josh Hartnett) to help them on their globe-trotting undercover mission to save the world.

Sadly, Kevin Jackson, Sydney director, teacher, critic and lovely man, has died. More here.
